Your First Step: Free Orthodontic Consultation in West Palm Beach & Wellington
No Referral Needed. No Obligation. Just an Honest Conversation About Your Smile.
Welcome to Freedman & Haas Orthodontics. Whether you’re exploring braces or Invisalign for yourself, bringing in a child for their first evaluation, or simply want a second opinion, your first visit is completely free and comes with no pressure, no sales pitch, and no obligation to start treatment.
Our two board-certified orthodontists, Dr. Douglas Freedman and Dr. Sharon Haas, have guided more than 40,000 patients to a healthier smile over 40+ years of practice. Our patients have given us a 4.9-star rating across 500+ Google reviews. We think you’ll understand why after your first visit.
Three things every new patient should know before they call:
- No referral required, you can book directly. No dentist referral needed.
- Cost is discussed at the first visit, you’ll leave with a written estimate, your insurance breakdown, and monthly payment options before you commit to anything.
- You might hear ‘not yet’, sometimes the honest answer is to monitor and wait. We turn patients away regularly when their teeth don’t need treatment. We’d rather lose a case than start one unnecessarily.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first orthodontic visit at Freedman & Haas is not a treatment appointment, it’s an evaluation and a conversation. Most first visits take 45–60 minutes from start to finish, and we designed every part of it to be comfortable, pressure-free, and genuinely useful. Here’s exactly what will happen:
Arrival & Check-In
Our front-office team will greet you, get you settled, and help with any paperwork you haven’t already completed online. Arriving 5–10 minutes early helps.
Exam with the Doctor
Dr. Freedman or Dr. Haas personally examines your teeth, jaw, and bite. Digital imaging is taken if needed (low-radiation X-rays, intraoral photos). No needles, no drills, nothing uncomfortable.
Honest Treatment Recommendation
The doctor explains what they found and recommends treatment, monitoring, or no treatment at all. Questions are welcome and expected. We’ll never rush this conversation.
Complete Financial Walkthrough
Written estimate with total cost, insurance coverage, monthly payment options, and out-of-pocket total — before you commit to anything. Take it home. Decide at your pace.
What to Bring to Your First Appointment
The more information you can bring to your first visit, the more complete and accurate your treatment plan will be. Here’s what we recommend:
Bring With You
- Panoramic X-rays (if taken in past 12 months)
- Dental insurance card or app
- List of current medications
- School schedule (for kids — helps with appointment planning)
- Your questions, written down
- Photo ID
- Parent or guardian (required for patients under 18)
You Don’t Need
- A dentist referral (not required — book directly)
- Perfect dental health
- A decision (decide at home, no pressure)
- Payment for today (the consultation is completely free)
- X-rays if you don’t have them (we can take what’s needed)
How Much Time Does Orthodontic Treatment Actually Take?
We know your schedule is busy. Here’s what a realistic time commitment looks like for each treatment type — both for the total treatment and for your individual appointments:
Braces
- How often: Every 6–8 weeks for a routine adjustment visit
- How long per visit: 15–30 minutes for most adjustment appointments
- Total treatment time: Typically 12–24 months depending on complexity
Invisalign
- How often: Every 8–12 weeks for a progress check
- How long per visit: 15–30 minutes for most progress visits
- Total treatment time: Typically 12–18 months for most adult and teen cases
First Visit
- How long: 45–60 minutes including exam, imaging, recommendation, and financial walkthrough
So even with active treatment underway, you’re typically visiting us every 6–10 weeks for half an hour at most. Most patients tell us it fits easily into a lunch break or an after-school slot.

Frequently Asked Questions — New Patients
Is the consultation really free?
Yes — completely free, no hidden fees, no obligation. Your first visit includes a full exam with the doctor, digital imaging if needed, a personalized treatment recommendation, and a complete financial breakdown. You leave with a written estimate and can take as long as you need to decide.
Do I need a referral from my dentist?
No. You can book directly with us — no dentist referral required. We see patients of all ages directly at both our West Palm Beach and Wellington offices.
How long does the first appointment take?
Most first visits are 45–60 minutes from arrival to departure. That covers check-in, exam, imaging, treatment recommendation, and the financial walkthrough. We don’t rush any of those steps.
What if we’re not ready to start treatment yet?
Completely normal — especially for younger children. We’ll recommend monitoring if appropriate, schedule check-ins at no charge, and start treatment when the timing is right for your situation. There’s no pressure to commit at the first visit.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept most major dental insurance plans with orthodontic benefits. We verify your specific benefits before your first appointment so you know exactly what’s covered before you commit to anything. See our Financing & Insurance page for more details.
Can I complete paperwork before arriving?
Yes — we can send new patient forms digitally before your appointment. Just mention it when you book and we’ll email them ahead of time. Completing them beforehand saves 10–15 minutes at the office.
Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes — if you’d prefer to get a first look at your options without coming in, we offer virtual consultations. It’s a great starting point for adults exploring Invisalign or busy parents who want guidance before scheduling an in-person visit. Book a virtual consultation here.
Can adults get braces or Invisalign at Freedman & Haas?
Absolutely. About one in three of our current patients is an adult. We offer Invisalign, clear ceramic braces, and traditional braces for adults of any age — and roughly 30 minutes every 6–10 weeks is all it takes to maintain active treatment.
